Many first-time campers from Girl Scout outreach programs in the Waterloo School District found adventure at Camp Little Cloud! The outreach program creates an opportunity for all girls to become Girl Scouts, eliminating barriers like financial resources, transportation, and volunteer support. The Girl Scouts meet during lunch-time and after-school sessions to participate in STEM, outdoors, life skills, and entrepreneurship activities. For the first time, Girl Scouts in the outreach program joined an overnight summer camp experience, with transportation, activities, and camping supplies covered at no cost to the participants.
Girl Scouts were all smiles all weekend and gave a thumbs up to swimming, archery, cooking out, tie-dying, singing camp songs, and making new friends. The only thumbs down were all the bugs, but it was still a great confidence-building experience as girls stepped outside their comfort zone and tried new things.
