Let’s Get Digital

Our Girl Scout movement is bringing virtual programs as a fun, new way to participate at home! From crafts to keep active to virtual badge and journey sessions, we have activities planned for all girls. New programs will be updated and added to our Facebook page so follow us on social media and check back frequently for fresh, new content to stay involved. Share photos of your at-home Girl Scout activities and tips for your virtual meetings to marcomm@girlscoutstoday.org to possibly be featured on social media.

Science Slueth

Girl Scouts (K-3) are invited to become Science Sleuths as they explore the world of germs! Their discoveries will give them the knowledge to make a difference in their house, their community, and the world.

Mechanical Engineer Badge
Girls can learn the principles of mechanical engineering through fun activities. Daisies will design a board game to play with family and Juniors will build a crane to lift objects found around the house.

Love Frozen or Star Wars? Play fun games with Anna and Elsa or help Rey on a special mission all while practicing your coding skills! Code.org is a great resource to learn about the skill of coding in a fun and exciting way!

Think Like a Citizen Scientist Journey
The Think Like a Citizen Scientist journey helps Daisies and Brownies the skills to make observations like a scientist and then take action like a Girl Scout. The Girl Scout program team will lead girls through the activities to earn the journey during two virtual events!

Think Like a Programmer Journey
Girl Scouts are problem solvers! From sophisticated strategies to everyday solutions, girls will learn how programmers solve problems by participating in interactive computational-thinking activities and complete a Take Action project. Use google classrooms to complete Think Like a Programmer for each age level.

Now more than ever, digital platforms are an essential part of daily life. Learn cybersecurity basics and earn the Cybersecurity badges - basics, safeguards, and investigator. May Day Baskets Patch
Learn how to make traditional and non-traditional May Day baskets. You can make your baskets along with the webinar or on your own after watching. On May 1st, with great stealth, hang your basket on the front doors in your neighborhood. It is an old tradition that will still bring smiles of joy on the faces of your recipients!

Surprise your family with fun, flower cupcakes! Former baking entrepreneur and current Girl Experience Manager, Aimee Williams, will guide girls through making and decorating cupcakes from scratch.

Baking Skills Patch
Spend some time in the kitchen with former entrepreneur and home baker, Aimee Williams. She will be showing you how easy it is to make your own cookies from scratch! After making cookies, you can ask her questions about opening your own baking business, too. This is a fun activity for all ages but it will satisfy a step in each of these badges: Simple Meals for Juniors, Business Owner for Juniors, and Entrepreneur for Cadettes.

Homemade Watercolors Patch
Unleash your inner artist at home and join our homemade watercolors class! Our team will show you how to make watercolors from household items to . All you will need is cornstarch, food coloring, baking soda, vinegar, sugar, teaspoons, liquid measuring cup, and small bowls or ice cube tray. This workshop is for all age levels, either for fun or as a part of an art badge. Ambassadors, this ties right into your Water badge!

April is Leader Appreciation Month and a great time to thank the Girl Scout volunteers that make your experience possible. While you’re at home, create a video, card, or token of appreciation for your Troop Leader.

SWAPS Challenge Patch
Are you up for a special SWAPS challenge? We are challenging all girl scouts to create a special SWAP using materials found at their house! Get creative with recycled materials, look outside for natural materials, or even use dry pasta or rice from the kitchen!

Vision Board Self Portrait Patch
Start off by drawing a picture of yourself. Make sure to draw yourself wearing your favorite outfit, your hair just the way you like it, and with a big smile on your face! Then find some magazines or print off photos from the computer. Cut out words our pictures that describe you and paste them around your self-portrait.

What is something you LOVE to do? Do you love soccer or cooking? How about playing an instrument or a certain video game? Come up with guidelines to earn your badge, create activities to help others learn about your badge, and then color a picture of it! Explore all the options!

Digital Cookie Extension
Girl Scouts participating in the 2020 Cookie Program can keep their cookie businesses running digitally until April 30, 2020! As entrepreneurs do, Girl Scouts got creative about how to sell cookies when the ability to host cookie booths was cut short by COVID-19 (coronavirus). Girls can continue to reach out through digital avenues like email and social media to reach more customers. Learn more!

Staying Connected Patch
Write a letter or color a Thank You note for someone who has stepped up to help others during this time. This could be the doctors and nurses working hard at the hospitals, the grocery store employees keep shelves stocked and providing service to customers, or first responders. You can also choose to spread some happiness to people living in nursing homes or patients in hospitals.

Random Acts of Kindness Patch
Brainstorm all of the ways you could help spread some kindness during this time. Could you help your parents around the house by cleaning up your room? Could you look through your clothes and toys to see which ones you could donate? Do you have a neighbor that could use help getting groceries or doing yard work? There are many ways you can make a difference in the world from your own home! Share a photo of yourself doing a random act of kindness to inspire your Girl Scout sisters!
