Property Update

Last Updated 6/24/2021

Our Girl Scout council remains committed to providing relevant and fiscally sustainable programs for girls. During this time of rapid change for our society, our council will continuously find opportunities to keep Girl Scouts modern and engaging for today's families.

The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois Property Committee monitors and reviews the collection of usage data for all council properties to make recommendations to meet the expectations of our current members. This committee ensures that our existing properties are equipped to provide an exceptional experience for all girls and finds innovative ways to serve our members better. While always using the guiding principle to use resources wisely, their work secures a bright future for our region.

Staff Locations

After reviewing usage and staffing, our team has put together a plan to continue having a strong presence in all metropolitan areas of our council with adjusted schedules and locations. To find a list of new office hours and shop schedules, please visit our locations page.

Dubuque-Area Office

The Dubuque Girl Scout Office was officially sold on August 28, 2020, and council staff has moved out to Camp Little Cloud, just 13 miles away in Epworth, Iowa. In partnership with a task force of volunteers, plans are in place to ensure that there are no interruptions in member services, and our members can come to our camp property more frequently!

Corridor-Area Office

The Corridor-Area Office officially moved to a new location, 2345 Blairs Ferry Road NE, Unit G, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402. Our team is excited to be at a more centrally-located office with better parking for volunteers.

Program Center

The Program Center in Rock Island is currently for sale. While the former office was a site for programs, usage from members has been declining. We are arranging for all programs to continue at school and community sites.

Shop Locations

More than ever, volunteers and parents are busy, and our shop team is simplifying the Girl Scout shopping experience. Any member has four options for purchasing Girl Scout supplies like badges, patches, uniforms, and more.

The Bettendorf and Cedar Rapids offices will continue to have permanent shops at staff locations. The team members from these shops host regular pop-up shops at the Waterloo Office, West Burlington Office, Camp Little Cloud, Kennedy Mall in Dubuque, as well as at events and the Camp Liberty Trading Post.

Volunteers are always welcome to contact our team to place an order and pick up curbside or shipped directly to your home. The online Girl Scout Shop is always open!

Camp Liberty

Camp Liberty, located in New Liberty, Iowa, was renovated in 2015 after a successful capital campaign. Community members, volunteers, and girls worked together to make the vision of a premier summer camp for Girl Scouts come alive. A new lodge and equestrian arena were built as well as enhancements to existing buildings. To meet the needs of our adventurous girls, a high ropes course, zip line, and climbing wall were added to the property. Community members and Troops can now use the property year-round, and more than 1,200 girls attend summer camp each season.

Camp Little Cloud

To kick off the development of Camp Little Cloud, located in Epworth, Iowa, our Dubuque staff will begin working exclusively from the property. Volunteers and girls are welcome to visit the property to connect with staff and pick up necessary supplies. A group of volunteers from Dubuque, West Dubuque, Dyersville, Jones County, and Delaware County are working together to ensure there are no interruptions in service. Stay tuned for more enhancements coming to Camp Little Cloud!

Camp L-Kee-Ta

A task-force of volunteers is continuing to determine updates necessary to Camp L-Kee-Ta, located in Danville, Iowa. In the spring of 2021, Camp L-Kee-Ta opened back up with events and rental availability for Girl Scout groups and community members.

While these changes will make Girl Scouts a more sustainable organization, many decisions were difficult, and we appreciate your support! We will continue to update the property page on our website as plans progress. Please reach out to us with any questions at Info@GirlScoutsToday.org or 800-798-0833.
