Weekend Horseback Riding

Saddle up for an adventure at the Camp Liberty Equestrian Center! The Spring and Fall riding program allows Girl Scouts of all ages to experience a horseback riding adventure. Girls that participate can choose from a variety of activities based on their comfort zone to ensure a positive riding experience at the Camp Liberty Equestrian Center. Whether you are just starting out and learning the basics of riding or are ready to hit the trail with your friends, start your equestrian experience with the Camp Liberty Equestrian Center!

Weekend riding sessions cost $30 per rider for arena and pony rides, and $35 per rider for trail rides. All participants must review the guidelines and complete a waiver to participate.

Daisy & Brownie Pony Rides toggle arrow

During this 90-minute session, Daisies and Brownies will get an introduction to our program at Camp Liberty and learn some new horse knowledge. Participants and their adult partner will learn a little about horses and how to be safe around them before taking a ride around our arena with their partner leading. Come learn the riding basics, play a game, and get to know a new friend! An adult, 18 years old or older, must accompany each girl to lead their horse.

Please list the required adult buddy for each girl in the “Buddy” section.

All participants must review the guidelines and complete a waiver to participate.

Brownie & Junior Arena Rides toggle arrow

During this 90-minute session, Brownies and Juniors will practice basic riding skills independently in the Camp Liberty arena and play some fun games on horseback. Participants will also get hands on skill building when learning how to properly groom and saddle one of our Camp Liberty horses. This session will be split into two groups for riding.

All participants must review the guidelines and complete a waiver to participate.

Junior Trail Rides toggle arrow

Juniors will learn to be safe around horses in a trail ride environment and practice simple skills used on the trail in our Camp Liberty arena. Once everyone is comfortable on horseback, we will take to our beautiful trails at Camp Liberty for a leisurely horseback ride!

Cadette, Senior, & Ambassador Trail Rides toggle arrow

During this 90-minute session Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts will get to enhance their trail riding skills by first practicing controlling and getting to know their horse in an arena setting. Once everyone is comfortable on horseback, we will take to our beautiful trails at Camp Liberty for a leisurely horseback ride!

All participants must review the guidelines and complete a waiver to participate.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp Equestrian Program toggle arrow

Summer camp has a special track just for girls who love horses! Through the progressive equestrian program, riders will spend a full week at the equestrian facility and develop their riding skills as well as enjoy traditional summer camp activities.

Grades 5-6 – Level 1: eQUESTrians
Grades 6-7 – Level 2: Giddy-Up Girls
Grades 7-10 – Level 3: Trail Mates
Grades 8-12 – Level 4: Trotters
Grades 9-12 – Level 5: Take the Reins
Grades 9-12 – Level 6: Liberty Riders

Also look for specialty sessions for girls who would like to ride horses at summer camp, but do not want to participate in the progressive program.

Badge Workshops

Junior Horseback Riding Badge Workshop toggle arrow

Join us for a 3-hour long badge work session dedicated to learning about horses. This session follows the Girl Scout Junior Horseback Riding Badge Requirements and is a great opportunity for youth wanting an introduction to the equestrian world. Activities included in the session are classroom time to learn safety and basic care when working with horses, a grooming and saddling learning opportunity, and riding time in the arena learning the basics of riding. Both individual participants and troops are welcome to this new opportunity. See you at the Camp Liberty Equestrian Center!

Before the session begins, please fill out our Camp Liberty Equestrian Center Horse Program Waiver for each participant. On the day of the session, remember to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (boots are preferred) as participants will be working with the horses. Helmets will be provided by the equestrian center.
