Volunteers: Sign up for Youth Mental Health Blended Learning Class!

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is skills-based training that teaches adults how to identify, understand, and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge in adolescents and teens. Similar to physical First Aid and CPR, YMHFA helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis until professional assistance is obtained or the crisis is resolved. Mental Health First Aiders learn a 5-step Action Plan to recognize warning signs of a mental health or substance use challenge, provide help in crisis and non-crisis situations, and understand where to turn for additional assistance.

  • Anyone who interacts with children or teens in a personal or professional setting would benefit from this training.
  • This training is presented in a blended learning format. Participants complete a 2-hour online self-paced course prior to the online live, interactive training.
  • The live portion of the training is 5.5 hours, breaks included. Participants must attend the session in full to receive their certification.
  • Youth Mental Health First Aid certification is valid for 3 years.

Note: Due to the interactive (and sometimes sensitive) nature of this training, all attendees must have a camera and microphone for the live online training for safety purposes. Attendees are encouraged to join from a private space away from children, if possible. Please contact info@girlscoutstoday.org with questions.
