Delegates representing Girl Scout councils nationwide came together to vote and approve new membership dues for our organization. After more than 12 hours of debate, amendments, and voting, it was approved that:
We are grateful to the delegates who represented our council and the members who shared their feedback at Town Hall Meetings and through the proposal survey! By working together, our delegates were able to elevate voices from our region and advocate for the best possible outcome for Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.
We understand that increasing membership dues is challenging for some troops and families. Our local council will continue to provide financial assistance for memberships. We believe that every girl should have the opportunity to be a Girl Scout! On a national level, the increase in dues will support GSUSA in implementing initiatives that will have a lasting impact on our Girl Scout councils, volunteers, families, and girls.
