Travel

Girl Scouts love to travel—from the field trips they take as Brownies to the global adventures they go on as teens. If you love exploring different places and cultures, then Girl Scouts is the place for you.

If traveling, please remember to follow all guidelines regarding group size, social distancing, masks, hand washing, cleaning high-touch surfaces, etc. See additional travel guidelines related to COVID-19 on cdc.gov.

Troop Travel

If your troop is planning a trip, make sure you are ready to go:

  1. Take Overnight Troop Readiness
  2. Turn in your Trip Approval
  3. Apply to raise any needed funds
  4. Complete the Activity Insurance Form

The Troop Travel Resource Guide and Extended Travel Training can be helpful for leaders planning a trip for the first time. Girls will want to work through the Girl Travel Planner as they plan their own travel experience as well.

Did you know you can bank program credit earned in the Fall Product and Cookie Programs? Learn more about saving troop funds for travel.

National Girl Scout Destinations

Girl Scout Destinations are the ultimate adventure for girls ages 11 and older! With different trips every year, there’s something amazing for everyone. Girls can apply to up to four different Destinations but must complete the application for each trip.

Because of continuous pandemic-related issues,  Girl Scouts of the USA has made the difficult decision to postpone all Destinations scheduled for summer 2021. Our highest priority is safety, and at this time, we agree that the best course of action is to delay these in-person programs.

Girl Scout Destinations

Because of continuous pandemic-related issues, Girl Scouts of the USA has made the difficult decision to postpone all Destinations scheduled for summer 2021. Our highest priority is safety, and at this time, we agree that the best course of action is to delay these in-person programs.

As you know, Destinations are a unique kind of Girl Scout travel—with girls flying to participate from many different states and even countries, and many months are necessary to apply and prepare, which COVID-19 has made impossible. With pandemic-related issues expected to continue well into 2021, we want to feel certain that travel and participation will be safe for all Girl Scouts before resuming Destinations.

We recognize that this news is disappointing. Please know that this hard decision was made with girls’ safety as our top priority. However, you can begin applying for 2022 Destinations if you would like to lock in your place for one of the amazing opportunities. The regular application period will open on May 21, 2021, and there should be even more Destinations available.

Girl Scout Destinations Schedule

September 1 | New Destinations available on GSTravel
December 1 | First-round Applications Due
February 15 | Second-Round Applications Due
March - May | Rolling applications available for trips with openings

Check out GSTravel for more information about Destinations and travel.
