Girl Scouts is proud to celebrate a generous gift of $35,000 from the Aegon Transamerica Foundation to support Girl Scouts’ outdoor programming.
“The Transamerica Foundation is proud to support the Girl Scouts’ Girls Soar in the Outdoors program and help make safe, guided outdoor experiences more accessible—experiences that build confidence, connection, and well‑being,” says Laura Wirth, Head of Corporate Development at Transamerica and Transamerica Foundation board member. “By bringing girls together in nature, the program creates space to manage stress, build resilience, and discover leadership, which strengthens our community in lasting ways.”
Camp provides girls with a unique opportunity to grow, explore, and thrive in the outdoors. Through activities such as hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and overnight camping, Girl Scouts build confidence, develop healthy habits, and discover the positive impact nature can have on their physical and mental well-being. Thanks to the support of Aegon Transamerica, more girls will have access to transformative outdoor experiences that strengthen self-esteem, encourage personal growth, and create lasting memories.
“Summer camp is such a meaningful and essential part of the Girl Scout experience,” says Diane Nelson, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. “We are deeply grateful to the Aegon Transamerica Foundation for making it possible for more girls than ever to experience the outdoors, grow in confidence, and build the courage and character that will stay with them for years to come."
