Girl Scouts welcomed a gift of $35,000 from the Aegon Transamerica Foundation to support the Girl Scout Camp experience!
“Summer camp is so essential to our girls! The Aegon Transamerica Foundation’s support lets us reach more girls than ever who truly benefit from outdoor experiences,” says Diane Nelson, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. “With their support, we can focus on providing a high-quality camp experience so they can build their courage, confidence, and character in the outdoors.”
Camp is an ideal environment for girls to develop healthy habits and learn about wellness. Through activities such as hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and camping outdoors, Girl Scouts discover how nature positively influences their physical and mental health. Funding from Aegon Transamerica ensures that Girl Scouts will have a transformative experience that enhances their self-esteem and overall well-being.
Girl Scout summer camp is a unique space where girls with different backgrounds, abilities, and experiences come together to have fun and learn new skills. With the support of trained and caring staff members, Girl Scouts build their confidence, develop a passion for the outdoors, and discover independence. All girls going into grades 2-12 are welcome to sign up for summer camp at Camp Liberty at www.GirlScoutsToday.org.
Thousands of girls, volunteers, and families visit Camp Liberty, Camp Little Cloud, and Camp L-Kee-Ta annually to develop their outdoor skills and experience nature. Learn more about Girl Scout outdoor programs and get involved at www.GirlScoutsToday.org.
